CELLULOSE ETHERS

Cellulose ethers are derivatives of cellulose and act as a gelling and thickening agent. They are also a carrier and a coating agent for many different applications. They can provide a viscos liquid consistency and have a stabilising and emulsifying effect. Cellulose ethers are water soluble and therefore have various uses in many industries from food, pharma to detergents.

We offer derivatives that are produced by substitution (etherification) following alkalinisation of the starting cellulose. These include water-soluble carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) and methyl hydroxy ethyl cellulose (MHEC, MC).

In the construction industry, cellulose ether is used as a thickener and water retention agent. In the food industry, cellulose ether is used in a number of different applications including soft drinks, confectionery, bakery products, and toothpaste etc.

Products we offer in our range are:

  • Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (SCMC, CMC, Cellulose Gum, E466)
  • Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (HEC)
  • Methyl Cellulose (MC)
  • Methyl Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (MHEC)
  • Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC)
  • Calcium CMC

We also offer other cellulose products such as:
